BMW has issued a recall for certain vehicles manufactured between 2020 and 2024 due to a potential starter failure. The reason for the recall is possible wear of the starter solenoid (magnetic switch) beyond a critical limit. Over time, this may lead to a situation where the vehicle fails to start. In extreme cases, a short circuit may occur in the starter, which could result in overheating. As a preventive measure, BMW advises not to leave vehicles affected by the recall unattended with the engine running. In Estonia, the recall affects fewer than 500 vehicles.
