Japanese luxury car manufacturer Lexus has unveiled the all-new fully electric Lexus TZ, entering the rapidly growing segment of large electric family SUVs. The new Lexus TZ is a three-row luxury electric SUV designed to offer maximum comfort, silence and spaciousness for up to six passengers.

The new model will compete with electric luxury SUVs such as the Volvo EX90, Kia EV9 and Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV. The TZ is an important model for Lexus as demand for larger electric family vehicles continues to grow rapidly across Europe and other global markets.

Lexus TZ brings Lexus luxury into the electric family SUV segment

Lexus describes the core concept of the new TZ as a “Driving Lounge”, created to make time spent inside the vehicle as relaxing and comfortable as possible. The electric platform allows for increased cabin space across all three rows while also delivering a quieter driving experience compared to traditional combustion-engine vehicles.

Lexus emphasizes that the new electric SUV has been designed primarily as a family vehicle, focusing on passenger comfort, spaciousness and a premium driving experience. A large panoramic roof further enhances the feeling of openness, while Lexus promises adult-friendly space even in the third row.

A six-seat electric luxury SUV

The new Lexus TZ is a six-seat electric SUV featuring separate second-row seats designed to maximize comfort during longer journeys. Lexus uses environmentally conscious materials throughout the cabin, including bamboo trim elements and recycled aluminum.

The brand has also focused heavily on ride comfort and cabin quietness. The new TZ features a dedicated Rear Comfort mode that adjusts vehicle dynamics to create the smoothest possible ride experience for all passengers.

The market for large electric SUVs is growing rapidly

The segment of electric family SUVs has grown significantly in recent years as buyers increasingly look for larger electric vehicles that combine luxury, practicality and lower running costs.

The Lexus TZ demonstrates that Japanese manufacturers are also becoming more aggressive in the market for large electric luxury SUVs. While European and Korean brands have dominated the segment so far, Lexus aims to offer an alternative for customers who value Japanese quality and the comfort Lexus is known for.

Lexus continues expanding its electric vehicle lineup

The Lexus TZ is part of Lexus’ broader electrification strategy. The brand plans to introduce several new electric models in the coming years and strengthen its position in the premium electric vehicle market.

The new Lexus TZ is expected to arrive in Europe in 2027.
