A New Era for BMW ALPINA Begins: Vision BMW ALPINA Concept Revealed
At the 2026 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, BMW unveiled the new Vision BMW ALPINA — a luxurious and sporty concept car that previews the future of BMW ALPINA within the BMW Group. This is not just another design study, but a vehicle that offers a clear glimpse into the next generation of BMW ALPINA design, technology, and driving experience.
Vision BMW ALPINA combines high performance, luxurious comfort, and elegant design — values that have defined the ALPINA name for decades.
BMW ALPINA Moves Further Into the Luxury Segment
According to BMW Group, BMW ALPINA will play an important role in the luxury segment between BMW and Rolls-Royce in the future. The goal of the new Vision BMW ALPINA is to preserve the unique ALPINA DNA while bringing it into a more modern and technologically advanced era.
BMW Group Design chief Adrian van Hooydonk said during the presentation that ALPINA has always represented the perfect balance between speed and comfort, and this philosophy will continue in the next generation of models.
5200 mm Luxury Coupé Powered by a V8 Engine
The Vision BMW ALPINA is an impressive luxury coupé featuring:
- 5200 mm length
- low and wide body design
- flowing coupé roofline
- spacious four-seat cabin
- V8 powertrain
BMW says the car is designed to deliver both exceptional comfort and high-speed performance during long-distance journeys.
The design incorporates classic ALPINA elements reinterpreted in a modern way:
- iconic shark nose front end
- signature ALPINA deco-lines
- quad oval exhaust system
- classic 20-spoke ALPINA wheels
- elegant and minimalist luxury styling
Interior Combines Craftsmanship and Advanced Technology
The Vision BMW ALPINA interior focuses on quality, details, and understated luxury. The cabin uses full-grain leather sourced from the Alpine region, crystal controls, and metal finishes inspired by fine watchmaking.
One of the most distinctive features is the rear center console, where BMW ALPINA crystal glasses and a glass water bottle rise automatically from a hidden mechanism.
The digital BMW Panoramic iDrive system features a dedicated ALPINA user interface, where the brand’s signature blue and green colors intensify depending on the selected driving mode.
“A Comfortable Driver Is a Faster Driver”
The ALPINA philosophy is built around Burkard Bovensiepen’s belief that a comfortable driver is also a faster driver. The same principle continues with the Vision BMW ALPINA.
The vehicle features a special Comfort+ setup that delivers an even softer and more luxurious driving experience than a standard BMW comfort mode.
This means the Vision BMW ALPINA is designed not only for sporty driving, but also for long and comfortable journeys.
New BMW ALPINA Production Model Arrives Next Year
BMW confirmed that the first new BMW ALPINA production model will arrive next year. The car will be based on the BMW 7 Series, but will feature a fully distinctive ALPINA design and driving character.
The Vision BMW ALPINA gives a strong indication of what the next generation of BMW ALPINA luxury vehicles will look like.
BMW ALPINA History Dates Back to 1965
ALPINA was founded in Buchloe, Germany, in 1965 and quickly became known for creating exceptionally fast yet highly comfortable BMW models.
The Alpina B7 Coupé from the late 1970s became one of the brand’s icons and served as inspiration for the new Vision BMW ALPINA.
Today, BMW Group aims to elevate ALPINA even further within the luxury segment while preserving the brand’s historic identity.
