The Car Market Turned Upward – 82% More New Cars Registered in Estonia in February 2026

In February, 1,142 new passenger cars were registered in Estonia, which is 515 more vehicles than in February 2025. This means the market has grown by 82% year-on-year.

To get a more realistic picture, it is worth comparing the figures with 2023 and 2024. In February 2023, 1,620 cars were registered – compared to that, this year’s February result is 29.5% lower. In February 2024, 1,446 passenger cars were registered, meaning this year’s February is down 21% compared to 2024.

For the second consecutive month, we see sales figures improving, and we can speak of a gradual market recovery.

February Brand Rankings – Who Won, Who Lost?

Top 3 manufacturers:

  1. Škoda – 195 cars
  2. Toyota – 162 cars
  3. Kia – 106 cars

Škoda sold 195 cars in February, achieving a 17% market share. Compared to January, Škoda’s dominant lead over competitors decreased significantly in February. Toyota slightly increased its sales compared to January, selling 162 new passenger cars and reaching a 14% market share. Kia ranked third with 106 cars and a 9% market share. In January, Kia was fifth with 98 cars sold, but in February it significantly improved its ranking.

Compared to February last year, all top three brands made a major leap: Škoda +82%, Toyota +85.7%, and Kia +242%.

Best-Selling Models in February

Top 3 models:

  1. Renault Symbioz – 73 cars
  2. Škoda Kodiaq – 69 cars
  3. Kia Sportage – 60 cars

The model ranking delivered a surprise, as Renault Symbioz took first place for the first time with 73 units sold.

In second place was last month’s winner Škoda Kodiaq with 69 units, followed by Kia Sportage with 60 units, repeating its third-place position from January.

Compared to February last year, the top three have completely changed. In February 2025, Toyota Corolla ranked first, Škoda Octavia second, and Toyota RAV4 third.

February Electric Vehicle Statistics

A total of 66 electric cars were sold in February, 10 fewer than in January.

Top 3 EV brands:

  1. Toyota – 15 cars
  2. BYD – 10 cars
  3. MG – 9 cars

Competition in the EV segment was very tight. Toyota led with 15 cars and a 23% market share. BYD followed with 10 cars and a 15% share, while MG ranked third with 9 cars and a 14% share. MG is a new player in Estonia’s EV market and has quickly entered the top three with a notable market share.

  1. Toyota bZ4X – 15 cars
  2. MG S5 EV – 9 cars
  3. BYD Seal – 4 cars

For the third consecutive month, Toyota bZ4X was the best-selling electric model, with 15 units sold. MG S5 EV ranked second with 9 units, and BYD Seal third with 4 units sold.

Engine Ranking

  1. Hybrid – 686 cars (+82%)
  2. Petrol – 245 cars (+86%)
  3. Diesel – 146 cars (+143%)
  4. Electric – 66 cars (+12%)

Hybrids have dominated the market for a long time, and the first months of 2026 have brought no change in this regard. Petrol cars remain in second place with a slowly increasing share. Interestingly, the first two months of 2026 have shown growth in diesel’s share and a decline in the share of electric vehicles.
