BMW has issued a recall for certain vehicles manufactured between 2020 and 2024 due to a potential starter failure. The reason for the recall is possible wear of the starter solenoid (magnetic switch) beyond a critical limit. Over time, this may lead to a situation where the vehicle fails to start. In extreme cases, a short circuit may occur in the starter, which could result in overheating. As a preventive measure, BMW advises not to leave vehicles affected by the recall unattended with the engine running.
In Estonia, the recall affects fewer than 500 vehicles.

It is important to emphasize that the recall does not apply to all BMW G-series body models, but only to those vehicles for which BMW has issued a specific recall based on the VIN code.

All owners of vehicles affected by the recall will be notified via the Estonian Transport Administration. This includes a notification sent to the owner’s contact email, and a corresponding notice will also be visible in the Transport Administration’s vehicle background check system. If a vehicle is included in a recall, this information is also displayed when the user logs into the Transport Administration’s self-service portal.

If a vehicle is subject to a recall, the vehicle user is asked to contact BMW’s official dealer, Inchcape Motors, at the earliest opportunity.
The starter replacement is free of charge for customers and takes up to a couple of hours.
BMW apologizes for any inconvenience caused and confirms that the safety of its customers and vehicles is the company’s top priority.
