Kia Europe has unveiled the new Niro. Thanks to its efficient hybrid technology, practical body style, and significantly improved connectivity, the updated crossover simplifies everyday mobility. Kia is focusing on hybrid powertrains in the European market, and the new Niro represents the most accessible entry point into the world of electrified mobility. Combining the efficiency and driving characteristics of a hybrid system, the new Kia Niro is practical and comfortable for everyday driving. With a strong focus on convenience, safety, and advanced technology, the Niro strengthens its role in the highly competitive CUV hybrid segment, where demand for efficient vehicles continues to grow.

The Niro has quickly proven itself as another Kia success story in Europe. From the beginning, the Niro has been positioned as an accessible and practical introduction to electrified mobility, perfectly meeting the diverse needs of European customers. The Kia Niro has received widespread praise for its versatile powertrain lineup, as well as for embodying the key characteristics valued by European car buyers. The elevated seating position offers excellent visibility, while generous headroom and legroom together with a practical design ensure comfort and ease of use in daily traffic situations. A comprehensive package of safety systems gives the driver confidence in all road and weather conditions.

One of the key success factors is the flexible range of powertrains. The various electrified versions have allowed Kia customers to transition to new technologies at a pace that suits them. Charging infrastructure development varies significantly across Europe, making flexibility especially valuable, which is clearly reflected in retail sales figures. A total of 620,000 Niro models have been sold in Europe, with the hybrid version becoming the most popular and best-selling choice.

Taking customer preferences and market trends into account, the updated Niro for Europe is equipped with a modern hybrid powertrain. The system combines a 1.6-liter GDI gasoline engine with a smooth-operating electric motor. Combining a 75 kW combustion engine with a 32 kW electric motor, the drivetrain produces a total combined output of 138 horsepower. Power is delivered to the front wheels through a responsive six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (6 DCT).

The powertrain was specifically developed with responsible and economical everyday driving in mind. By intelligently and seamlessly switching between electric and gasoline power, the Niro achieves the driving range and comfort familiar from conventional vehicles without the need for charging cables. The maximum speed reaches 170 km/h, while acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 11.3 seconds. This is sufficient for both urban driving and highway overtaking.

A series of exterior updates align the refreshed Niro with the Opposites United design philosophy while preserving the model’s distinctive identity. The refreshed design focuses on visual clarity, improved lighting technology, and practical proportions that suit everyday mobility both in urban environments and rural areas. The newcomer appears more modern and purposeful than its predecessor.

The redesigned front and rear bumpers create a sharper and more confident appearance. The headlights now feature a vertical layout, in line with the brand’s new design language and reinforcing the vehicle’s distinctive visual identity. Standard LED headlights with the Multi-Faceted Reflector system provide a premium and technological look while significantly improving light distribution for increased nighttime safety.

The rear tailgate has been completely redesigned with a new lighting signature. The license plate recess has been removed to create a clean and minimalist surface. This visually increases the vehicle’s width and adds a premium-class feel. The updated rear light graphics emphasize the modern design language and create better visual harmony with the front end.

With a length of 4,430 mm and a wheelbase of 2,720 mm, the vehicle offers generous spaciousness for a compact crossover. The luggage compartment provides 430 liters of cargo space according to the VDA standard, and loading items into the trunk has been made convenient. The vehicle can tow a braked trailer weighing up to 1,010 kg, allowing for a variety of leisure activities and practical household needs. The aerodynamically efficient Niro has a drag coefficient of 0.28. Buyers can choose between 16-inch alloy wheels and newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels, the latter available on higher trim levels.

Inside the cabin, materials and color combinations have been thoroughly refreshed to create a modern and cozy environment for all passengers. At the center of the redesigned dashboard and center console architecture is a 12.3-inch connected navigation cockpit ccNC infotainment system. The modern interface integrates navigation, vehicle settings, and connectivity services into one logical environment, making system management intuitive.

The 12.3-inch infotainment and instrument display remains clearly readable even in bright sunlight. The system supports over-the-air updates, ensuring maps and software stay up to date. Secure smartphone access is provided through Digital Key 2.0, while wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto enhance device usability. A head-up display projects key information onto the windshield, and a dedicated wireless charging pad is included for smartphones.

The new Kia Niro comes standard with a comprehensive package of advanced ADAS driver assistance systems. Cutting-edge safety technologies help the driver prevent dangerous situations.

The FCA 1.5 Forward Collision Avoidance Assist is a camera- and radar-based system capable of detecting other vehicles, pedestrians unexpectedly stepping onto the road, and cyclists crossing the vehicle’s path, actively helping to avoid collisions through braking intervention. The HDA 2.0 Highway Driving Assist combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering functionality to support drivers on long highway journeys. The LFA 2 Lane Following Assist gently adjusts steering input to help keep the vehicle safely centered in its lane.

The BCA Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist detects vehicles in the driver’s blind spot when the turn signal is activated. The system can actively intervene in steering or braking to help avoid collisions. The ISLA Intelligent Speed Limit Assist uses cameras and navigation data to detect traffic signs and help the driver maintain the appropriate speed. The PDW Parking Distance Warning system operates both front and rear ultrasonic sensors to detect obstacles and warn the driver during low-speed maneuvers. The RVM Rear View Monitor displays a real-time image of the area behind the vehicle on the infotainment screen to support safer parking and reversing.

The dedicated HOD system detects whether the driver’s hands are on the steering wheel, confirming driver engagement while active assistance systems are being used. Intelligent driver assistance technologies support safer everyday driving by helping the driver maintain proper lane position, monitor surrounding traffic, and react to potential hazards. The vehicle’s advanced sensor package also enables convenient use of the Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) in tight parking situations.
