Today, 29 May 2026, Tesla announced that it has received approval from Estonian authorities to deploy Full Self-Driving (Supervised). The feature will soon be rolled out to customer vehicles.

Following its European debut in the Netherlands in April 2026, this marks the first time Full Self-Driving (Supervised) will become available to customer vehicles in Estonia — an important milestone on the path toward safer roads across the continent.

Full Self-Driving (Supervised)

Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is a suite of advanced driver assistance features that enables Tesla vehicles to drive almost anywhere under active driver supervision. Designed to handle the most stressful aspects of everyday driving while maximizing safety*, FSD (Supervised) can navigate city streets, maneuver through intersections, perform lane changes, and much more.

FSD (Supervised) learns in a similar way to humans — through experience. Tesla’s global fleet collectively drives more than 320 million kilometers per day, generating anonymous and aggregated driving data. This data is used to train the FSD (Supervised) system to respond even to the rarest traffic situations, helping make daily driving safer for Tesla drivers and other road users alike.

When enabled, FSD (Supervised) primarily uses the vehicle’s exterior cameras and artificial intelligence to navigate the world. From the beginning, FSD (Supervised) has been designed with privacy in mind. All real-time environmental analysis — including camera images and sensor data processing — takes place directly on the vehicle’s AI computer. While processing is local by default, Tesla improves system performance over time through Fleet Learning and over-the-air software updates. Participation in Fleet Learning is voluntary, and only anonymous data is shared with Tesla for this purpose.

At the core of FSD (Supervised) is an end-to-end neural network trained on anonymous real-world driving data to interpret its surroundings and make real-time driving decisions. Rather than relying on manually coded rules for every situation, the system learns to understand the driving task itself — from lane markings and traffic signs to pedestrians and other vehicles — and directly outputs driving commands. This approach allows the system to continuously improve with more data, adapt to complex real-world environments, and provide a smooth and natural driving experience.

In its current form, FSD (Supervised) requires active driver supervision and does not make the vehicle autonomous. The driver remains responsible for the vehicle’s operation at all times.

When FSD (Supervised) is engaged, the likelihood of a collision per kilometer traveled is up to seven times lower than when driving manually alone*. To date, more than 17 billion kilometers have been driven worldwide using FSD (Supervised)*.

Full Self-Driving (Supervised) in Europe

Before customer deployment, Tesla conducted extensive internal testing of FSD (Supervised) across Europe, covering more than 1.8 million kilometers with the system actively engaged.

Late last year, Tesla began offering FSD (Supervised) ride-along experiences in selected European countries. Open to the public in Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain, the program allowed more than 17,000 people to experience the feature firsthand on European roads.

Tesla has worked intensively for nearly two years to bring FSD (Supervised) to Europe. The company prepared thousands of pages of documentation, thousands of track-testing scenarios, dozens of studies on safety performance and outcomes, and conducted presentations for regulators in nearly every EU country.

Since customer deployment began in the Netherlands in April, more than 20 million kilometers have been driven in Europe using FSD (Supervised). Today’s announcement marks a significant milestone that paves the way for safer roads for everyone in Estonia.

Customer Rollout in Estonia Begins Soon

Estonia is among the first European countries to grant regulatory approval for FSD (Supervised). Deployment will begin shortly through an over-the-air software update. Tesla continues to work toward obtaining regulatory approvals for FSD (Supervised) in other European countries.

Tesla vehicles come standard with advanced driver assistance features, while optional capability packages are available for all new Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y vehicles. Additional features will be enabled following local regulatory approval.
